Diversity Breeds Knowledge: Optimizing and Leveraging Real Estate Knowledge
In addition to his teaching and real estate experience, Kent showcases some of the many doors that a real estate license can open. Kent leveraged his knowledge of real estate for building construction and rehabilitation. In order to maximize profit and to develop his skills further, Kent undertook a number of housing rehabilitation projects, doing the majority of work himself and only subcontracting work when the cost/benefit was warranted.
With the success of his first housing rehabilitation project, Kent used his knowledge of buyer preferences in housing and amenities, as well as his construction skills and relationships with subcontractors, to optimize his real estate business. Kent explains that his building experience allowed him to maximize his profits through simple projects.
In addition to small and large rehabilitation projects, Kent also built one entirely brand new home, acting as his own general contractor. Learning new skills or benefiting from the expertise of someone like Kent can help all real estate brokers maximize their knowledge, ability to help customers, and profit margin. Further, while this course focuses on Florida Real Estate Licensing, students should keep the possibilities in mind for how they can capitalize on their own backgrounds in developing and defining their real estate careers.
