The course is designed to be completely self-contained. Students are not required to purchase any other materials for this course. All of the materials presented in the course are downloadable and printable for the student's convenience. The instructor can suggest supplemental books or materials if the student desires.

Can I get a refund if I do not finish the course?

Before you decide to register, be sure you have the time to commit to the course. Refunds cannot be given once you have registered. However, you will have one full year from the date of your registration to complete the course and take the end-of-course exam.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You will have one year from the date of registration to complete the course and take the end-of-course exam.

What happens if I don’t pass the end-of-course exam?

Students failing the Commission-prescribed end-of-course examination must wait at least 30 days from the date of the original examination to retest. Within one year of the original examination, a student may retest a maximum of one time. Otherwise, students failing the end-of-course examination must repeat the course prior to being eligible to take the end-of-course examination again. Schools shall administer a different form of the end-of-course examination to a student that is retaking the exam or repeating the course.

What are the course requirements?

Once you register, you will have one full year to complete the course and take the end-of-course exam. This is a self-paced course. You may go through the course as quickly as you wish or at your leisure. At the end of one year, your access to the course will be terminated and you must re-register if you have not finished in time. Unfortunately, your prior progress will be lost and you must start the course over from the beginning. However, it is extremely uncommon for a candidate NOT to finish the course within one full year.

How will I take examinations?

All quizzes, progress tests, and the end-of-course exam are offered online. You do not need to go to a test center at any time during the course. Only the end-of-course exam is timed. You will have 3 hours to complete the final exam. All quizzes, progress tests, and the end-of-course exam are automatically scored, providing you with immediate feedback.

I have a lot of test anxiety; what can I do?

Don’t worry; this course has been designed with you in mind. As a self-paced course you can proceed through at your own pace. In addition, one of the best ways to overcome “test anxiety” is to be familiar with the format of the state exam before you take it. All of the quizzes, progress tests, and the end-of-course exam are formatted to emulate the state exam. You will be presented with quizzes at a very manageable pace – only a few at a time. Each quiz and progress test is automatically scored and you will be provided immediate feedback. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to review each question and the correct answer, as well as an explanation about the correct answer. Most people find their test anxiety has all but disappeared by the time they take the state exam. By the time you sit for the state exam, you will have had plenty of experience with test questions and the intimidation of taking a test will have subsided to a great extent if not altogether.

Will I get my Florida real estate license after I complete this course?

Not yet. After completing this course and passing the end-of-course exam you will be eligible to sit for the Florida Sales Associate Licensing Exam. When you pass the state exam you will then be a state-qualified real estate sales associate. Once you notify the Department of Business and Professional Regulation of your employing broker on the appropriate form or online, you will be permitted to engage in real estate brokerage activities.

pass rate

What is the pass rate of the state exam?

Historically, the pass rate for the Florida real estate sales associate license has been fairly low. Although the number of candidates for licensure has dropped off markedly in recent years, still only about 50% of the people who take it the first time actually pass. Repeat testers' average scores fall sharply to around 30%. That's why it is so important to select the right real estate pre-licensing course for your real estate education; one that provides a thorough, comprehensive education, and provides quality support and quick feedback. That's exactly the kind of pre-licensing course we have developed here at the University of Florida!

What’s the difference between a Real Estate Licensee and a Realtor?

All Realtors are real estate licensees, but not all real estate licensees are Realtors.  "Realtor" is a professional designation given to licensees who have joined a local Board of Realtors.  Local boards offer membership in the Florida Association of Realtors (FAR), which is part of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors adhere to a strict code of ethics approved by the National Association of Realtors. The code assumes that people conducting a real estate transaction must adhere to a higher set of standards that those people working in other business arenas. Realtors are, according to the Realtor Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, "zealous to maintain and improve the standards of their calling."

Is a certificate awarded to licensing candidates who pass the course?

Yes. You will receive a “Certificate of Successful Completion” from the Office of Distance, Continuing and Executive Education at the University of Florida suitable for framing.
